DSCF6361Annie Schugart is a junior at Harvard pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Film & Video production, while also having taken several English/creative writing courses. She heads The Harvard Crimson‘s multimedia department, where she leads a staff of 40+ photographers, videographers, and executives to produce content for the daily print and online newspaper as well as the weekly magazine. She is interning at The New York Times this summer and has previously interned at The Kansas City Star.

Annie has experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and she has created graphic design work for several organizations on campus including Divest Harvard, theatrical productions, Harvard Cheerleading, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Modern Dance Company. Her most recent commissioned work has been for a New York City-based record label company and for fellows in the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative.

In the field of computer science, Annie has experience with full-stack JavaScript (including libraries such as Node.js, D3, Handlebars.js, among others), Python, CSS, HTML, and has taken classes involving C and OCaml. Annie is particularly interested in UI/UX design and has worked with Sketch and InVision.

Annie is passionate about writing (both journalistic writing and creative writing), the arts, and being a part of Harvard Cheerleading.

Annie is especially interested in the convergence of journalism and technology/multimedia. In high school, she implemented an app for her school newspaper that merged print journalism with video. In the future, she hopes to use computer science skills to engage in data-driven visual journalism and produce multimedia work for a journalism organization while continuing to develop new multimedia-journalism methods, explore the fields of data visualization and UI/UX, or work in the entertainment industry.
